Trainee SEN Teaching Assistant - Behaviour & Mental Health

Daily Rate: £54-£65 per day

The school:

Our Specialist SEN branch, are currently working with client school Based in Penarth. This independent special school that offers day and residential placements for students aged 7 - 19. The students have difficulty learning as a result of their emotional, social and behavioural difficulties in addition to Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Asperger's Syndrome.

They are currently on the look out for 6 additional teaching assistants to work through us initially with the likelihood of a permanent contract after a specific amount of time. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who is fancying a change in career or if you have a keen interest in behaviour and/or psychology.

The school have an in depth induction process where they will go through the relevant policies and procedures in order for you to have the right amount of knowledge to start your new adventure. The school are even willing to put you through their own behaviour management training which is a great opportunity for you

The role: the successful candidate will be supporting an adapted curriculum for a range of key stages within this school. You will have school based training and ongoing supporting from Teaching Personnel and the school itself to ensure you are able to hit the ground running.

The successful candidate:

  • Will have some experience in supporting additional learning needs either in a personal or professional capacity.
  • Will ideally but not essential be a Sports, Psychology, Music graduate
  • Have prior experience or interest in mental health & learning difficulties.
  • Will need to be available Monday- Friday 8:30-4pm
  • Will be confident handling challenging behaviour
  • Will be able to use your initiative in situations that may challenge some.
