Theraputic Teaching Assistant for Vulnerable Children in Arundel

Location: Arundel, West Sussex

About Us:
Our partner School for Vulnerable Children works with children aged 5-16 and is a unique educational setting located in a large rural area, providing an opportunity for children to learn and explore in a natural environment. The school is specifically designed to support children who have experienced negative experiences in mainstream schools and may have a fear of traditional educational settings. The children have traumatic pasts and need consistent, caring educators to help them learn to trust others and re-build their confidence. The school strives to provide a less intimidating learning experience by focusing on smaller groups, individualised transition plans, and opportunities for one-on-one support.

Role Description:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing personalised support to students. Working closely with our experienced teachers and therapists, you will help create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and respected. You will assist in the implementation of individual transition plans and therapeutic interventions, supporting children in managing their emotions and building their confidence. The children you will work with need strong, trusting relationships with their support workers and want to form strong bonds where they can be themselves and trust that you can help them to love learning again.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience working with vulnerable children or young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An understanding of child development and the impact of trauma.
  • A caring and empathetic nature.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and use your own initiative.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

We would love to hear from you!
