Here at teaching personnel we are working in partnership with a local Charity run organisation. They have a rare opportunity to appoint a learning support officer. This role would be to work under guidance/instruction of the teachers and senior staff around you to undertake work, care and support programs. Enabling accesses for students to fully engage themselves in there school life all because of your support and action.

The schools ethos- To provide students with the opportunity to learn and develop through providing educational, vocational and person centred plans through the schools educational system. The organisation has working opportunities in residential home and outreach services. The Charity organisation works to a value base of respect dignity and uniqueness of each individual student, team member, stakeholder and the wider community.

You’re key Aims –

  1. To be able to supervise and provide particular support for pupils ensuring safety, access to learning and working with behaviour support plans this in turn establishing positive working relationship.
  2. You will have to provide support for students inside and outside of the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.
  3. You will be expected to assist and work with other professionals including; behaviour specialists, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists.

Training included- The school has a consistent CPD program for you to always continue your progression and personal growth. Apart of the training is to understand that Autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) can present challenging behaviour. In occasion, having to physically intervene or remove students from potentially difficult and/or hazarders situations in line with their agree behaviour management programmes and physical intervention policies, may be necessary. All team members receive in depth training in positive behaviour management techniques, and theses are the only form of physical intervention allowed.

Essentials-

  1. Good basic education level in GCSE or equivalent in literacy and numeracy as you will be expected to help students with their classwork
  2. Experience of working with children, either in a professional or personal capacity
  3.  Desirable- experience of working with individuals with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
