A Teaching Personnel partner school has just met with two new students joining in September with Additional Needs that require additional staff support. As such, we are now recruiting for two Teaching Assistants to join their SEN Team with a focus on one to one Autism support. The exact needs for these students have not been completely identified so a candidate willing to be flexible would be preferable.
As part of the position you will be part of an incredibly supportive team where you will be able to learn a lot regardless of your current level of experience. The school community shares a strong moral belief that children must come first and the leadership team ensures the quality of teaching is consistently high.
The school was graded Ofsted 'Outstanding' in its most recent inspection (2017) and is working hard to maintain the excellent standards of care. The school is also a Teacher Training provider and regularly supports their teaching assistants through the process to become teachers with them. This is a great position for a candidate that wants to build a career in a school.
While some experience of working with children with additional educational needs would be desirable, the school has found that having the right personality and attitude can be just as important. You will need to have good energy, be willing to learn, and really get involved with the team. The school has recently invested substantially in their performing arts facilities and so candidates with an interest in dance, drama or the arts may get on particularly well.
Shortlisting Criteria:
- A graduate with an interest in potentially going into teaching
- Experience of working with children (preferably school based but childminding and after-school clubs are also of interest)
- A friendly and enthusiastic personality
- A real dedication to professional development, keen to learn as much as possible
- Some knowledge of Special Education Needs (either from direct experience or a solid academic understanding that you are keen to put into practice)
