Job description

Secondary Science Teacher

Position: Science Teacher (Key Stages 3–4/5)
Start Date: Immediate
Location: Colchester

About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and committed Science Teacher to join our dedicated secondary teaching team. The successful candidate will inspire students, foster a deep understanding of mathematics, and help learners build confidence in their problem-solving abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Science across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and 5 if applicable)
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons aligned with the curriculum
  • Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative methods
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to support academic development
  • Contribute to departmental planning, curriculum development, and enrichment activities
  • Maintain high expectations for student behaviour and achievement
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and support staff
  • Participate in school events, staff meetings, and professional development sessions

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • A degree in Science or a closely related field
  • Strong subject knowledge and understanding of pedagogical best practice
  • Ability to motivate and inspire learners of varying abilities
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom-management skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience teaching Science at GCSE and/or A-Level
  • Willingness to contribute to extracurricular activities
  • A reflective practitioner with a passion for continuous improvement

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
