Teaching Assistant York

£54 - £58.50 per day

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with an alternative provision, providing education for students unable to access mainstream school places. The school is based in the Fulford area of York and they look to recruit Team Teach Trained Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants with SEMH/Behaviour experience across all Primary and Secondary Key Stages. Although the students are not able to access mainstream education, there is a high percentage of the Secondary pupils who are high functioning in both academic and vocational senses.

The successful Teaching Assistant would have experience with social, emotional and mental health issues and challenging behaviours would posses the correct behaviours in order to support and re-engage SEMH and MLD students within a Primary or Secondary classroom setting. Ideally, you will have additional training, such as Team Teach, but this is not essential as we do run our own CPD courses. Other courses that you will have access to, include NASEN, Safeguarding, Autism Awareness and Moving & Handling.

We would also welcome applicants with relevant transferable skills such as ex forces, sports coaches, youth workers and specialist foster carers.

Our Ideal Teaching Assistant will have:

  • 6 months experience supporting those with challenging behaviours or special educational needs
  • Team Teach Trained or equivalent (e.g. NAPPI/SECURICARE)
  • Experience working with adults or children with additional needs such as autism or learning difficulties
  • Patient mannerism

Why should you apply for a Teaching Assistant job with Teaching Personnel?

  • Competitive Daily Pay Rates up to £58.50, with Friday pay days
  • £50 reward for every successful time you recommend a colleague to work with us
  • Unrivalled CPD opportunities, with the majority of courses online and free to access
  • Opportunity to work in a number of schools and SEN provisions, with the help of your specialist recruitment consultant

If you are interested in applying for this role, please send your up to date CV to Kerry Fowler or call the Hull and Lincoln SEN Branch on 01482 908020!
