Teaching Assistant- Year 7 transition- Manchester

Teaching Personnel are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join our partner secondary school from September 2018. This full time position, starting in September, is to specifically focus on working with the new Year 7 cohort as they make the transition from Primary to Secondary school. This Teaching Assistant position is ideally suited to someone with previous experience of supporting with Year 7 transition.

Specific duties-

• To raise the attainment of Year 7 pupils to ensure they are at the age appropriate level for secondary education, especially with their English and Maths studies.
• To work on a 1-to-1 basis with pupils and with small intervention groups.
• To provide pastoral support whenever necessary and overcome any apathy to learning.

Job details-

• Excellent rate of pay- earn up to £300 a week
• The school is located on the outskirts of Manchester town centre offering excellent accessibility to East Manchester, Tameside and areas of Stockport via the M60 motorway. There are also direct public transport links (both buses & trains) to the school from Manchester city centre.

Due to an increase in pupil numbers joining our partner school in the new academic year, the Head of Year 7 is looking to source the support of a Teaching Assistant on a supply basis. This position will be for one term initially to determine suitability for the role.

Our partner school currently caters for just under 900 pupils. At present, the numbers of pupils eligible for pupil premium and those who speak English as an Additional Language are slightly higher than the national average.
