Teaching Assistant (Visual Impairement)

Job description

I am looking to recruit teaching assistants to work in a 1:1 basis with young people with visual impairments in and around Stockport.

The ideal candidate will have existing experience and be able to:

  • Promote the communicative, experiential and visual/tactual development of the pupil so that any gap between the pupil's current level of development and that of their peers is reduced.

  • Ensure the pupil is able to access the lesson and achieve the objectives set for him or her.

  • Enable the pupil to be socially included, to enjoy similar opportunities to be involved and to contribute to lessons and the school community in the same way as other pupils

Assignments can be short term and longer term, depending on the needs of the school/provision.

Ideally I am also looking for candidates who:

  • Have a nurturing personality
  • A calm manner
  • Have the ability to use their own initiative
  • Have a creative streak
