Teaching Assistant – Therapy Background

Contract: Full-time, Temporary (January Start)
Location: Woolton, Liverpool

Start Date: ASAP

Pay Rate: £13.75 to £14.50 per hour (depending on experience)

We are working with Primary Schools in the Woolton area, that prioritises pupil wellbeing and academic success. The school fosters a nurturing environment where every child feels safe, supported, and ready to learn.

The Role

We are seeking a Teaching Assistant with a therapy background to join the team from January. This is a full-time temporary role with the potential to become permanent. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils in class and on a 1:1 basis, particularly those with additional emotional or social needs.
  • Using therapeutic strategies to help children regulate emotions and engage positively in learning.
  • Assisting the class teacher with planning and delivering inclusive activities.
  • Contributing to a trauma-informed approach across the school.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Background in therapy, counselling, or mental health support.
  • Experience working with children in an educational or care setting.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Patient, empathetic, and committed to helping children thrive.

Woolton is well-connected to Liverpool city centre:

  • Direct bus routes (75, 76, 78, 81A) run frequently, with journeys taking around 30–40 minutes to Liverpool One.
  • Hunts Cross Station offers train links to Liverpool Central in approximately 30 minutes.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
