Teaching Assistant/ Support worker - Romford

If yes, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

We are seeking a nurturing teaching assistant for September to support autistic children in a primary special needs school in Romford. This is an 'Outstanding' school which is part of a multi trust academy of special needs school with opportunity for development and progression for the right person. You will be based in a KS1 class for children who have autism and complex behavioural needs, there are 8 children who vary on the autistic spectrum with some children who are non verbal and can be extremely lively and active! The school are looking for someone who has experience supporting with SEN children ,an understanding of how to support autistic children, this could be experience from a special school or primary mainstream setting and a personality is essential! It is important for the pupils and school to have consistency in support, there will be the potential to secure a permanent contract for the successful individual.

Job specification:

  • Has at least 6 months experience working with autism
  • Able to provide 1:1 and group support for children with special needs
  • Able to work in a challenging setting with a positive attitude
  • Wants a career in special needs
  • Full time hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am -3.30pm for the whole academic year
  • Able to commit to travelling to Romford daily for the duration of the placement
