Location: Coventry
Start Date: After Easter 2026
Contract: Full-time, fixed-term (until at least the end of the 2025/2026 academic year)
Salary: Paid to scale (in line with MPS/UPS) – Weekly Pay
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join our thriving secondary school in Coventry from Easter 2026. This full-time role will run until at least the end of the academic year (July 2026), with the potential for extension.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging and high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Key Stage 5 experience desirable), inspiring students and driving strong academic progress.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured English lessons
-
Teach a broad and balanced English curriculum
-
Prepare students for GCSE examinations (A-Level desirable but not essential)

Assess, track, and report on student progress
-
Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement
-
Contribute to departmental planning and enrichment opportunities

Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
-
A degree in English or a related subject
-
Experience teaching English at secondary level
-
Strong subject knowledge and classroom management skills
-
A commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
-
The ability to engage and challenge learners of all abilities

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
