SEN Teaching Assistant

 Location: Royston
 Salary: Dependent on experience
 Job Type: Full-Time

We are looking for passionate and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming and supportive school in Royston. You’ll work closely with children who have Special Educational Needs, helping them thrive both in and out of the classroom.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is caring, patient, and committed to making a difference.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with SEN in the classroom and during break/lunchtimes.
  • Assisting the class teacher with day-to-day learning activities.
  • Helping maintain a safe, organised, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Providing individual or small-group support to pupils when needed.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and fostering an inclusive learning environment.

(Experience in schools is not essential — what matters most is your passion, reliability, and commitment to supporting young people!)


 The Ideal Candidate Will

  • Have previous experience working with children (experience with SEN is desirable).
  • Hold a valid DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
  • Show genuine enthusiasm and drive to support pupils’ development.
  • Be proactive, adaptable, and able to use their own initiative.

Safer Recruitment Requirements

All applicants will be required to undergo:

  • Enhanced DBS check (Update Service – support available).
  • Two recent employment references (covering the last 24 months).
  • Overseas Police Check (if you have lived outside the UK for 6+ months in the past 5 years).

Please note: Only applicants with permanent UK residency can be considered.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
