Teaching Assistant (SEMH and Language)
Due to an upcoming maternity leave, our client secondary school in Tameside are looking for a teaching assistant to join them in November 2019, to cover a 12-month maternity cover.
The TA will cover a split timetable supporting in both EAL and the schools' on-site SEMH setting. The setting support students with Mental Health, physical health needs along with other Special Educational Needs whilst they are working away from mainstream classrooms. The setting is small with less than 10 students working there each day. There will be an element of personal care for one female student, so applicants need to be prepared to help in this manner, but do not need to have extensive experience.
Requirements of both aspects of job role;
- Calm manner, patient and resilience
- Experience working with vulnerable students who may need additional support
- Understanding young people and mental health
- Understanding that language can be a barrier to learning and can help break down literacy for students
The school is a modern mainstream academy situated in Tameside, with excellent accessibility to Manchester and surrounding areas due to the neighbouring tram stop and numerous bus routes passing by the school. The school has seen excellent results and outcomes for students in the past 5 years and has gone from strength-to-strength as they continue to build a highly skilled support team throughout with on hand support for new starters to refine their own practice.
Anyone wishing to be taken into consideration for this position should send their CVs in response to this advert as the school will be looking to meet with interested candidates in the upcoming weeks due to the maternity cover commencing in November.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
