Teaching Assistant (Secondary)
Newport

Salary: £12.90 - £14.50 per hour 
Hours: 08:20am- 15:30pm.
Start date: September 2024.
Term time only.

An opportunity has arisen to work in a lovely and successful secondary school in the Newport area. This is a unique and exciting role to support pupils within the additional needs department. You will be joining a large and friendly team who will encourage you to succeed and make a positive impact on the pupils you’ll be supporting. You will initially complete a probationary period through Teaching Personnel before transitioning to a school contract after Christmas 2024.

About you:

  • Prior experience in a school setting (primary, secondary or SEN).
  • Comfortable with literacy and numeracy.
  • An understanding of learning difficulties – Autism, ADHD and mental health needs.
  • Complex SEN experience desirable – Down Syndrome, Physical disabilities, Adverse Childhood Trauma.
  • Caring and patient individual and able to work independently.
  • Seeking a long-term placement with the opportunity to develop skills.

  • Will offer a lot of training and upskilling during the contract.

This role will entail a mixture of classroom support and offering interventions to small groups of pupils in literacy, numeracy and life skills. The school are seeking an individual who is able to use their initiative and bring some innovative ideas to the department. Teaching Personnel can offer behaviour management training and Team Teach course. The school are seeking a Teaching Assistant with prior experience working with children and young people with a strong understanding of additional needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
