The school is a Pupil Referral Unit for up to 42 pupils in Key Stages 2 and 3 who have either been permanently excluded from mainstream school or who are in danger of becoming so, because of social, emotional or behavioural difficulties. The setting provides part time and full time placements to pupils experiencing behavioural difficulties within their mainstream schools and aims to return pupils to mainstream placements wherever possible. Class sizes are small to allow time to focus on individual education plans and promote individual positive behaviour.The ideal Teaching Assistant would have;
- previous experience of working with young people with social, emotional and mental health needs
- strong behaviour management skills
- have sound knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum
- have an up-to-date Team - Teach qualification
- have a DBS on the update service

The successful Teaching Assistant will also have a passion for promoting behavioural development in young people and must be able to act as a positive role model to the young people within this setting. You will need to be proactive, enthusiastic and have a determination to succeed.
