We are looking for calm and assertive Teaching Assistants to support our Primary schools based in the Vale of Glamorgan. You will ideally be a Teaching Assistant who has the ability to maintain a calm and patient atmosphere and have the skills to support behaviour management. It's crucial that you are pro-active and engaging with the children as this will allow for progress amongst pupils within the class. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and school closures, a number of pupils have been identified as needing additional literacy support.
You will be working with a variety of children in Year 1 or Year 2 on a 1:1 level and in small groups to support with literacy intervention.
The role will start in April and be full time until the end of the academic year.
What we are looking for -
- Experience of working with children within or without a school setting
- A strong desire to help children achieve their potential
- Ambition to grow and progress with education
- Excellent Literacy and Phonics knowledge
- Minimum GCSE’s English and Maths A-C
You will be expected to:
- Establish rapport and respectful, trusting relationships with pupils, their families and their carers
- Encourage the development of self-confidence, sensitivity and respect for others through the understanding of individual rights and responsibilities
- Ensure positive inclusion of all pupils by fostering community links and developing the role of the school as part of the total educational provision
- To deliver appropriate literacy and language programmes to a range of students with identified special educational needs and/or literacy difficulties
- To closely and regularly review progress of students attending taught literacy interventions under the direction of the Literacy Co-ordinator
The minimum pay rate is GBP10.20 per hour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
