Teaching Assistant

Date posted : 06/06/19
£285 - £315 per week

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

Have you got experience working in Early years or with children at Primary level?

Are you familiar with teaching phonics and developing speech and language?

Have you supported children with SEN?

Teaching Personnel work with a number of SEN Primary schools who support children with learning needs, such as autism, ADHD, aspergers and downs syndrome. Often these conditions mean that the children have a delay in speech and language, or are struggling to communicate at all.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be required to support these students in the classroom, helping them to engage in their lessons and interact as much as possible, to help develop their cognitive and sensory recognition. You will also be required to help them communicate, using PECS (picture cards), developing vocabulary, using phonics and sometimes BSL.
This role requires patience and a caring approach, so the students feel supported, encouraged and relaxed within their learning environment. With some of the conditions, students can become distressed or upset easily, so a calm and calculated approach to them, and taking the time to understand their individual needs and personalities is necessary.

Any qualifications or training you may have in areas such as BSL, PECS, Speech and Language or general SEN is ideal, however Teaching Personnel are open to considering experience from all areas, and offer multiple opportunities for training through our CPD Academy.

When working through Teaching Personnel, candidates have access to support 5 days per week, competitive pay rates and weekly pay. Contracts through the schools we work with are generally temporary with opportunities for extension and permanency, and can be flexible for part time and full time needs.

All candidates MUST have an enhanced child only DBS on the update service, or be willing to obtain one which Teaching Personnel can advise on.

If you think this role is something you'd be great at, send your CV, and a consultant will get back to you.
