Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant – based in Southampton
Location: Southampton

The Role:
As a Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support students in Years 3 to 6, both in class and in small groups. You will help create a positive, engaging learning environment where children feel confident, motivated, and supported to achieve their full potential. Your role will involve working with children of varying abilities, including those with additional needs, and assisting with the delivery of differentiated lessons to ensure all students make progress.
Key Responsibilities:

Support the teacher in delivering lessons, assisting with class activities and learning resources.

Work with individuals and small groups of students, helping to build their confidence and understanding.

Support students with special educational needs (SEN), ensuring they are fully included and supported in their learning.

Assist with classroom management and maintaining a positive, productive learning environment.

Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to the teacher and contributing to reports.

Support students with their social, emotional, and behavioral development.

Help prepare materials for lessons and assist with administrative tasks when required.
Requirements:
-
Previous experience working with children, ideally in a Key Stage 2 setting.

A caring, patient, and proactive approach to supporting children’s learning.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.
-
The ability to adapt to the needs of individual students and provide tailored support.

A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
-
Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
