Job description

1:1 Teaching Assistant – KS1

Location: Dorset, Poole
Pay: £13.75 per hour
Contract: Full-time, term time only
Start Date: ASAP (subject to interview and checks)

We are working closely with a friendly and supportive primary school based in Poole who are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in Key Stage 1.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a child’s educational journey, working within a nurturing environment that values inclusion, patience, and teamwork.

The Role:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil in KS1, helping them access the curriculum and reach their full potential
  • Assist with classroom activities, differentiation, and individual learning plans
  • Support the class teacher in maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Encourage independence and confidence through consistent, structured support

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, ideally in a primary school setting
  • A good understanding of autism and experience supporting children with additional needs
  • Confident in using positive behaviour management strategies
  • Kind, patient, and adaptable, with excellent communication skills
  • Committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom culture

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
