Teaching Assistants needed in Fareham!
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to make a real impact in the classroom? Secondary schools across Fareham are currently seeking skilled and dedicated Teaching Assistants to support students on a 1:1 basis or in small group settings. Opportunities are available for day-to-day cover, as well as short-term and long-term assignments.
This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in the academic and personal development of young people, working closely with teaching staff to help students reach their full potential.
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll be an essential part of the school community, supporting learners who may require additional help with their studies, behaviour, or emotional wellbeing. You’ll provide tailored support, both in and out of the classroom, to help students overcome barriers to learning and fully engage in their education.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 support for students with specific learning needs or EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans)
-
Work with small groups of students to reinforce lesson content and improve understanding
-
Support teachers in managing behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment
-
Assist in the delivery of differentiated lesson materials and targeted interventions
-
Monitor and record student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and SENCOs
-
Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support their emotional and academic development
-
Promote inclusion and help ensure all students have equal access to learning opportunities
Candidate Requirements:
-
Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school setting is essential
-
Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or behavioural needs is highly desirable
-
A calm, patient, and encouraging approach
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-
The ability to follow instructions while also using your initiative
-
A genuine passion for education and supporting young people
Teaching Assistants play a vital role in helping schools deliver inclusive, high-quality education. You’ll be a consistent, reassuring presence for students who need that extra bit of guidance—whether academically, emotionally, or socially. Your support helps to boost confidence, improve progress, and make the school experience more positive and productive for everyone involved.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
