Teaching Assistant
Position: Teaching Assistant
Location: Derby
Salary: £22,102.72 - £23,621.50 (FTE £25,729.60 - £28,059.60)
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent, Term time only
Start Date: 1st May 2025
Teaching Personnel have a fantastic opportunity to work with a specialist day school based in Derby. The school dedicated to providing outstanding education and support for children and young people aged 5-19 with ASC and SEMH needs.
The Role
- Supporting the class teacher in delivering lessons and activities tailored to the needs of students.
- Providing one-to-one and small group support to help students engage in learning.
- Assisting with the implementation of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation using agreed strategies.
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Supporting students with personal care, where necessary, in a dignified and respectful manner.
- Monitoring and recording student progress, contributing to reports and feedback for teachers and families
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working with children, ideally in a SEND or educational setting (desirable but not essential).
- A passion for supporting children with ASC and SEMH needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Relevant qualifications, such as Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, are desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
