Position: Full–Time Year 3 Teaching Assistant

Sector: Welsh Medium Primary

Area: Cardiff

Start Date: As soon as possible

End Date: On-going

 

A Teaching Assistant is required as soon as possible to work within a popular Welsh medium Primary School in Cardiff. Teaching Personnel are seeking a teaching assistant who would be a proactive member of the classroom and have excellent interpersonal skills. The position is to fill a gap in staffing, and it would be to start as soon as possible until the end of the academic year, with an option for the role to become permanent. You do not have to have specific classroom experience however we are ideally looking for people who have previously coached sports, worked, or volunteered with children or adults with challenging behaviour and/ or special needs (SEN).

 

You will be working with a Year 3 class, providing support, and encouraging academic progression for the pupils. You will need to be enthusiastic, friendly, and patient, both inside the classroom and outside the classroom, and be able to communicate confidently through the medium of Welsh. An adaptable and flexible approached is essential, as each day can be different. This is the perfect job if you are looking to build up your experience to go into teaching or a role working with children in the future.

 

The Teaching Assistant Must Have:

 

  • Enhanced DBS (Teaching Personnel can assist with the DBS application and EWC registration)
  • Registered with the education workforce council
  • Provide 2x professional references
  • Right to work in the UK

 

The school is in Cardiff and caters for pupils aged between 3 and 11 years old. The school is a fluent Welsh Primary school, and although very few come from welsh speaking backgrounds, all pupils are expected to be fluent in Welsh and English by the end of Key stage 2. In the school’s latest inspection ESTYN commented that pupil’s wellbeing and attitudes towards learning are very strong. Additionally, they mentioned that nearly all pupils behave very well in lessons and at break times.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
