Help Every Learner Achieve Their Potential

TP Tutors is expanding its network of dedicated Education Tutors to support children and young people across Wellingborough and neighbouring communities.

We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced educators who can provide personalised one-to-one tuition to pupils who require additional academic or specialist support. You will work with learners of different abilities, helping them overcome educational barriers, improve their knowledge and develop the confidence to succeed.

Assignments may take place in pupils' homes, mainstream schools or alternative educational provisions, depending on individual requirements.

The Role and Your Responsibilities

As an Education Tutor, you will:

  • Deliver engaging one-to-one tuition tailored to each pupil's individual learning needs.
  • Support learners with their academic development across different key stages.
  • Prepare structured lessons, educational resources and practical learning activities.
  • Identify areas where pupils need additional support and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
  • Track learning progress and provide feedback on achievements and areas for improvement.
  • Encourage participation, motivation and positive learning habits.
  • Support pupils with additional learning needs, including behavioural and emotional challenges.
  • Establish positive working relationships with families, schools and other professionals.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and maintain a safe and welcoming learning environment.

Subjects and Specialisms

We are interested in hearing from tutors with experience in:

  • Primary-level English, Maths and Reading.
  • Secondary-level English, Mathematics and Science.
  • GCSE tuition and examination preparation.
  • Functional Skills, Literacy and Numeracy.
  • History, Geography and other Humanities.
  • ICT, Computing and Modern Foreign Languages.
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Individual home tuition and alternative provision.

What We Are Looking For

To be considered for these opportunities, you should have:

  • At least two years of teaching or tutoring experience in the UK.
  • Experience working with primary or secondary school-aged children.
  • Good knowledge of your specialist subject and effective teaching techniques.
  • The ability to plan and deliver structured, engaging lessons.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A flexible and understanding approach to different learning abilities.
  • Willingness to travel to pupils across Wellingborough and nearby locations.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

A recognised teaching qualification such as QTS, PGCE or an equivalent qualification is desirable but not essential.

SEND Experience – An Added Advantage

We particularly welcome applications from tutors who have experience supporting pupils with:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
  • ADHD.
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia.
  • Speech, language and communication difficulties.
  • Emotionally Based School Non-Attendance (EBSNA).

Why Work With TP Tutors?

  • Flexible assignments that can fit around your existing commitments.
  • Competitive weekly payment.
  • Opportunities to work within homes, schools and alternative settings.
  • Potential to secure regular, long-term tutoring placements.
  • Rewarding work where you can make a genuine difference to children's lives.

Interested in Joining Us?

If you are passionate about education and committed to helping pupils achieve their individual goals, we would be delighted to hear from you.

All pay rates quoted are inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.

TP Tutors is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All educators are subject to safeguarding checks in line with Department for Education (DfE) guidance including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE). All educators must complete our annual tuition training programme, covering Safeguarding, Prevent Duty, KCSIE, Allergy Awareness, and Child-on-Child Abuse Awareness. Tutors must also hold, or be willing to obtain, a valid Child-only Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service, with full guidance provided.

Many pupils supported by TP Tutors require tailored educational provision. Tutors should be confident in building positive relationships, adapting their approach to meet individual needs, and maintaining high standards of professionalism and safeguarding at all times. Tutors must also be able to effectively plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that meet the learner’s individual needs, monitor progress, and adapt teaching strategies to support positive outcomes.
