Teaching Assistant – SEN & Behaviour Support

Location: Bridgend

Contract: Full-time / Part-time 

Salary: From £89.38 per day

 

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and young people with ALN (additional learning needs)? We’re looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team in Bridgend, supporting pupils aged 3 to 18 with SEN and behavioural needs.

 

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored assistance to pupils with a range of needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other ALN profiles. Your role will involve:

  • Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups across early years, primary, and secondary settings
  • Implementing behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • Helping create inclusive, nurturing learning environments
  • Assisting with classroom activities, transitions, and emotional regulation
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families

 

What We’re Looking For

We welcome applicants with experience in education, childcare, youth work, psychology and sport. Ideal candidates will have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN/ALN
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for inclusive education

Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach, or a degree in Psychology, Education or Sport) are desirable but not essential.
