Learning Resource Base Support Assistant | Full-Time | Cwmbran | November 2025 Start

Are you passionate about supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and additional needs?
We’re looking for a Learning Resource Base (LRB) Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Cwmbran this November 2025.

You’ll work within a small, specialist provision supporting pupils with ASD, complex needs, challenging behaviour, and pica. This is a rewarding role where you’ll help children feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.


Role Overview

  • Support pupils with autism, sensory and communication needs.

  • Assist with daily routines, activities, and structured learning.

  • Use strategies like PECS, TEACCH, and Makaton.

  • Encourage positive behaviour, regulation, and inclusion.

  • Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and therapists.


What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience supporting children with autism or additional needs.

  • Calm, patient, and consistent approach.

  • Good teamwork and communication skills.

Desirable:

  • SEN or LRB experience.

  • Behaviour management training (e.g. Team Teach).

  • Awareness of pica and sensory needs.
