Full-Time Teaching Assistant – Autism Base (1:1 Support)
Location: Secondary School, Barry Area
Hours: 08:15 am – 3:15 pm, Monday to Friday
Rate: £90 per day


About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our specialised Autism Base within a welcoming secondary school in the Barry area. This is a full-time role working on a 1:1 basis with a Key Stage 3 pupil (aged 11-14) with complex needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a pupil with complex needs within a specialised Autism Base
  • Offer emotional and academic support, fostering a calm and nurturing learning environment
  • Assist with daily educational activities, ensuring the pupil’s needs are met sensitively and effectively
  • Work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to support the pupil’s development and progress

Person Specification:

  • Calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with pupils with ASD
  • High level of academic ability to support learning needs
  • Strong emotional intelligence and ability to offer consistent emotional support
  • Experience or interest in working within special educational needs (preferred but not essential)
