Join Our Team as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Specialising in Autism and Complex Learning Difficulties!
Are you a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a passion for supporting students with autism and complex learning difficulties? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to make a significant impact in the lives of our students.
We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled HLTA to join our team and play a key role in providing tailored support to students with autism and complex learning needs in a secondary SEN provision with fantastic facilities! As an HLTA specialising in this area, you will work closely with our teaching staff to deliver high-quality education and care that meets the diverse needs of our students.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to students with autism and complex learning difficulties, both in and out of the classroom setting.
- Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of tailored learning activities and interventions designed to meet the individual needs of each student.
- Implement behavior management strategies and techniques to support students in managing their emotions and behaviors effectively.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported to reach their full potential.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to teaching staff and parents/carers as appropriate.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of our provision for students with autism and complex learning difficulties.
Supporting Communication and Social Skills:
- Implement strategies and activities to support the development of communication and social skills in students with autism and complex learning difficulties.
- Facilitate opportunities for students to engage in social interactions and develop positive relationships with their peers.
- Use visual supports, social stories, and other communication aids to enhance understanding and promote effective communication.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience working with students with autism and complex learning difficulties in an educational setting desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive approach to supporting the diverse needs of students with complex learning difficulties.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to learn and implement new approaches and strategies.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
