The Role:

Our client school in Basingstoke are looking for a Geography teacher to teach 5 days a week in their school starting at either February or April in a full time permanent capacity.  

The applicant will need to be flexible as well as passionate to teach Geography at both KS3 and KS4 and to take an active role in supporting the wider faculty. You will be expected to teach whole classes, plan and mark homework and class work, work fairly and firmly with your pupils to ensure that they achieve the correct level of attainment. The school are looking for a strong teacher with excellent classroom presence and a history of increasing attainment. A positive outlook and an ambitious attitude are key personal traits looked for by this school.

You will collaborate with other members of the humanities department as well as building cross curriculum links, this is all part of the schools wider community ethos. The school has a brilliant reputation within the wider community especially with the parents and guardians of the students of the school, working with parents to improve the school experience of pupils both academically and within their wider school life helping them to make lasting friendships and develop lifeskills through extra curricular activities!

This position is open to qualified teachers, newly qualified teacher, unqualified teachers ith experience and graduates with a related degree at a 2.1 or higher. 

This role is suitable for an NQT and you will be completely supported throughout your induction year with both an NQT mentor and a subject specialist mentor.

The role will be paid to MPR/UPR, or will be competetive if you aren't currently on the teaching payscale. 

The School

The school are currently “Require Improvement” and we often find that this is a great way to help bolster your career as the next Ofsted report is likely to improve judging on the way we have seen the staff and senior leadership team react to the Ofsted report. Ofsted also said “ Pupils are proud of their school. They are smartly dressed and respectful towards staff and visitors alike.” This is a great sign for any teacher moving into a new school, the school do not suffer with behaviour issues. In the latest short inspection the school were seen to be making the correct steps to securing a “Good” judgment at their next full inspection.

The school has great transport links with access via the M3 to Farnborough Southampton and London and Reading via the A33. They also have regular local bus routes and a Train station with regular services connecting to the major cities and towns surrounding Basingstoke.
