Teacher - Autism Specialist

Job description

We are currently looking for a full time Autistic Specialist Support Teacher to plan and deliver educational instruction to students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and/or Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties

The Role

You will be based within an Alternative Provision which caters for students with Emotional and Difficulties, aged between 11 and 16.

Your overall objective will be to help specific students learn mechanisms for coping with their disorder and techniques to help them adapt to their communities. You will be required to teach a number of subjects up to a GCSE Level as well as comprehension and communication skills.

In the role, you will also serve as a Mentor to SEN Teaching Assistants and other staff. You will also help install basic life skills by promoting classroom structure, rules and procedures.

The Candidate

The school are looking for a Fully Qualified Teacher, with an experience of supporting students with Additional Needs and the ability to manage challenging behaviour. Experience working in an Alternative Provision is preferred, however, not essential.
