We are delighted to announce that we are working with a new Alternative Provision in the Carlton area of Nottingham (NG4). This Alternative Provision provides one to one and group tuition to young people between 11 and 16 years old (year 7 to 11). They also offer "Post 16 Options" for year 10 and year 11 in preparing for life after school. Subjects delivered to the young people include Maths and English (GCSE and Functional Skills - NVQ); Art and Design; Design Technology; ICT; Catering and Hospitality; Cooking Skills and Food Hygiene; Business Administration; Sports and Fitness.
The provision are looking for a Teacher AND a confident Teaching Assistant to work with small groups of students who have been excluded from education. The students attend the provision generally on a temporary basis for around half a term/a term before they transition back into mainstream education. Some of the students will stay for longer periods of time and may even sit their GCSE's with the provision.
The role is starting ideally on Monday 11th June and will be mornings only (9-12) every day.
We are looking ideally for candidates with experience and skills in the following areas:
- Working with disaffected pupils; in particular those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties who may present with challenging behaviour
- Working with or supporting young people with Autism, ADHD, Learning Difficulties, Dyspraxia or Dyslexia
- Primary trained Teachers (desirable but NOT essential if you have experience of delivering Cross Curricular subjects)
- Confident in the areas of Maths and English (predominantly KS2 and KS3 abilities)
- Able to manage behaviour effectively and have an understanding of Attachment Disorder
- Be willing to work 1:1 and plan/deliver work to disaffected pupils
- Work closely with a small team and ensure that progress and behaviour is monitored effectively
- Building self-confidence and self-esteem alongside meeting the educational needs of each young person.
