About Us: Our Secondary SEN School is committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every student is valued, respected, and supported to thrive academically and socially. Located in Bolton, we cater to secondary-aged students with a range of special educational needs, ensuring they receive personalized support and tailored interventions to help them overcome barriers to learning and achieve success.
Position Overview: As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing assistance and guidance to students with SEN, enabling them to access the curriculum, participate in school life, and develop essential life skills. - Collaborate closely with teachers and therapists to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans (BSPs), ensuring students' needs are met effectively.
- Foster positive relationships with students, offering encouragement, reassurance, and emotional support to help them overcome challenges and build confidence.
- Assist students in developing independent living skills, including self-care, communication, and social skills, through structured activities and practical experiences.
- Support students during transitions between classes, activities, and external environments, providing guidance and assistance to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Monitor and record students' progress and achievements, maintaining accurate records and reports to track outcomes and inform future support strategies.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, preferably in a school or educational setting, is desirable but not essential.
- Compassion, patience, and empathy for students with diverse learning needs, along with a genuine commitment to supporting their development and well-being.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, following guidance and direction from SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators) and other professionals.
- Flexibility, resilience, and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of students and respond effectively to challenges and unexpected situations.
Why Join Us:
- Opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with SEN and contribute to their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Supportive and inclusive work environment with opportunities for training, professional development, and career progression.
- Competitive salary and benefits package, including pension scheme and generous holiday allowance.
- Chance to be part of a dedicated team of professionals who are committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
