Support Assistant for Secondary Autism and behavioural pupils

Teaching Personnel work very closely with a school that has 2 different sites in Southampton, both are looking for full time support assistants at the moment. The schools cater for 11-19 year olds, one site in Swanwick cater for pupils with SEMH and challenging behavoiur. The other site is in Totton and cater for Autistics pupils that could have challenging behaviour or learning difficulties alongside this.

The school is expanding and potentially opening up a new site from January so there is potential for progression within the school for all members of staff. The school use Team Teach throughout so ideally the candidate would be trained in this however Teaching Personnel do offer this as a training course if you haven't had the training yet. The majority of pupil live in the residential homes linked to the schools so many of them have had a traumatic childhood.

The ideal candidate would have:

- Previous experience working with Autistic or challenging pupils

- need to be available full time and ideally to start in the next couple of weeks

- Team Teach training is desirable but not essential

- Full clean driving licence and access to a car as quite often the staff take the pupils off-site for activities

- Available for the hours which are 8:45-4:15

- To be flexible as quite often the staff are shared between the Swanwick and Totton site.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
