✨ Make a Real Difference Every Day

Are you someone who finds deep satisfaction seeing a child’s eyes light up when they grasp something new? Do you believe that every student deserves personalized, caring support—especially those who find traditional classroom settings challenging? If yes, then join us!

At Teaching Personnel, we’re looking for passionate, flexible, and caring individuals to step into Supply Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support) roles in Neasden, Brent. These roles are perfect for those who thrive in dynamic environments and who want to make an immediate impact by supporting learners with additional needs.

About the Role

Working as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Work directly with a pupil who needs extra support, whether for learning, communication, emotional regulation, or social skills

  • Support access to the curriculum, helping your assigned student understand lessons, follow instructions, and complete tasks

  • Adapt learning materials and resources—creating visual aids, scaffolding tasks, or offering alternative approaches

  • Encourage positive behaviour, social interaction, independence, and self‑regulation

  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher and SENCo, providing observations and feedback to inform strategies

  • Assist with general classroom duties when needed—preparing resources, supervision, and offering broader support

This is not a “behind‑the-scenes” role—you will be in the thick of the learning, making real, visible change in a child’s day.

What You’ll Bring: Our Ideal Candidate

We believe great 1:1 support combines heart with skill. You might not tick every box, but here’s what sets exceptional candidates apart:

  • Previous experience in 1:1 settings: Whether in schools, special units, or therapeutic interventions

  • Knowledge of SEN and additional needs: Understanding or experience with Autism, ADHD, speech & language difficulties, SEMH, dyslexia, etc.

  • Patience, empathy & creativity: You’ll need to think on your feet and tailor approaches

  • Positive, proactive mindset: You’ll take initiative and adapt as challenges arise

  • Strong communication skills: You’ll liaise with teachers, professionals, parents, and your pupil

  • Reliable & committed: Punctuality, consistency, and flexibility matter

  • Safeguarding confidence: Enhanced DBS (Child) on the Update service, or willingness to apply

What You Get from Working with Teaching Personnel

We believe that supporting our staff is just as important as supporting students. Here’s what we offer:

  • Competitive daily rates that reflect your experience

  • Flexible short‑term roles—ideal if you’re juggling commitments or prefer variety

  • Dedicated consultant support—you’ll have someone guiding you in placements, feedback, and development

  • Opportunities for longer‑term roles—many supply roles lead to ongoing work

  • Free professional development & training—enhance your skills through CPD modules

  • Access to a wide school network—great for gaining diverse experience

  • Supportive community—you won’t be left alone on a wing

Why This Role Matters

  • You will be a key bridge for a child who might otherwise struggle

  • Your support can unlock confidence, growth, and better engagement

  • Being in 1:1 settings helps you hone strategies, build resilience, and grow professionally

  • You’ll impact not only academic learning but also social skills, self-esteem, and independence

A Typical Day (What You Might Expect)

  1. Morning check-in: Meet with the classroom teacher and SENCo to review the plan for your student

  2. Pre‑lesson prep: Adapt or prepare visual aids, scaffolds, or resources

  3. Lesson support: Sit with your pupil, breaking down tasks, asking guiding questions, encouraging attempts

  4. Break and social support: Help with transitions, peer interactions, emotional regulation

  5. Post‑lesson reflection: Note progress, challenges, and strategies for next time

  6. Lunchtime duties or supervision as needed

  7. Afternoon subject classes: Provide support in other lessons or rotate with other students

  8. End-of-day debrief: Feedback to teacher, SENCo, planning for tomorrow

✅ How to Apply

If this role resonates with you, here’s what we need to see:

  • Your CV or resume, highlighting relevant experience

  • A personal statement or cover note (even a paragraph)—tell us why you’re passionate about 1:1 support

  • Two reference contacts (from past roles in education or support settings)
