Supply Teachers Required in Bournemouth and Surrounding Areas

Job Purpose:

To carry out the professional duties of a class teacher in any area of the school, within the "Conditions of Employment of School Teachers", as defined in the current "School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document".

To teach pupils within the school and to carry out such other associated duties as are reasonably assigned by the Headteacher.

Key Tasks:

• To provide a differentiated curriculum, ensuring progress and continuity
• To be the class teacher of the allocated class, displaying a high level of professional ability.
• To work alongside colleagues in planning, implementing, evaluating, recording and reporting the progress of the class.
• To be responsible for the learning environment ensuring high quality class displays which support learning and follow school policy.
• To ensure all school policies are followed.
• To direct the work of Teaching Assistants to support the learning of children in the class.
• Communicate and consult with parents of pupils.
• Be aware of and implement the requirements of the school's SEN policy and procedures.
• To work occasionally out of school hours to support school functions and requirements.
• Assist the Lead Practitioners and SLT in determining and resourcing the needs of the class, and ensuring the effective and efficient use of these resources.
• Maintain good order and discipline among pupils, safeguarding their health and safety when they are involved in school activities on the school site or elsewhere.
• Promote and provide equal opportunities for children, and awareness of differences and tolerances.
• To reflect a positive image of the school, supporting the overall ethos and direction of the school, as determined by the Head Teacher and Governors.
• Co-ordinate a curriculum area. (Not NQT)

Standard Duties:

• To actively promote the equalities and diversity agenda in the workplace and in service delivery.
• To be familiar with safeguarding and health and safety polices of the school and Local Authority.
• To participate in self-improvement in performance through workplace development.
• Undertake any additional duties commensurate with the grade of the post.

• Qualified Teacher Status
• Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development.

Knowledge & experience

• Experience of primary teaching with class responsibility in KS1 or KS2.
• Good understanding of current theory and best practice in teaching and learning
• Good knowledge of the National Curriculum and its assessment
• An understanding of effective strategies for maintaining high standards of behaviour within the classroom
• An understanding of equality of opportunity issues and how they can be addressed in school
• Clear knowledge and good understanding of assessment strategies in KS1 or KS2.
• A clear understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection issues

Demonstrate the skills of a good teacher, including ability to:

• Interest, encourage and engage pupils
• Provide appropriate levels of challenge
• Use resources effectively (including ICT)
• Make effective use of Teaching Assistants
• Use assessment information effectively

• Effectively deliver all areas of the curriculum within the school's timetable
