Speech and Language Specialist Teaching Assistant

Start Date: After February Half Term
Location: Kirkby L32

Contract: Full-time / Term-time only
Salary: Competitive £13.75 to £14.50 per hour

A friendly and community-focused primary school in the Kirkby area (L33) is seeking a dedicated Speech and Language Specialist Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team after February half term. About the Role

As a Speech and Language Specialist TA, you will:

  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions for pupils with SLCN.
  • Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and external Speech & Language Therapists.
  • Support and model communication strategies across the classroom.
  • Help adapt learning activities to meet individual communication needs.
  • Monitor, record, and feedback on pupil progress.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting pupils with speech, language, or communication needs.
  • Understands or has exposure to strategies such as Makaton, PECs, or colourful semantics (desirable).
  • Is patient, supportive, and passionate about helping children thrive.
  • Can work collaboratively within a busy school team.
  • Holds relevant TA qualifications (or has strong practical experience).
