SEMH Specialist – Primary School – Croxteth
Location: Croxteth, Liverpool
Start Date: February 2026
Contract: Full-time, Temporary
Pay Rate: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour (dependent on experience)

A warm and inclusive primary school in Croxteth is looking to welcome an experienced and committed SEMH Specialist to their team this February. This full-time temporary role is perfect for someone passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a caring and structured primary environment.

This school, has a strong reputation for its pastoral provision, collaborative staff culture, and unwavering commitment to ensuring every child can thrive, regardless of the challenges they may face. Working across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, the successful candidate will deliver tailored SEMH interventions on a 1:1 or small-group basis, supporting children with emotional regulation, engagement, and positive behaviour.

You will work closely with the SENCo, class teachers, and external professionals to provide targeted support, track progress, and help pupils develop socially, emotionally, and academically.


The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH needs in a school or similar setting
  • A calm, nurturing approach to behaviour management
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence in adapting strategies to suit individual pupil needs
  • Background in education, youth work, psychology, or a related area (advantageous but not essential)
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
