A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Bootle is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Specialist to join their team on a long-term basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in supporting pupils’ emotional and behavioural development during their formative years.

The Role

As a Behaviour Support Specialist, you will work closely with pupils who require additional behavioural or emotional support, helping them to regulate emotions, develop positive coping strategies, and engage successfully with learning.

You will be a calm, consistent, and positive presence within the school, supporting both individual pupils and small groups across EYFS, KS1, and KS2 as needed.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted one-to-one and small group behaviour support for pupils with additional needs
  • Implement and review behaviour management and intervention strategies tailored to individual pupils
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, social skills, and positive behaviour choices
  • Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and parents to create and review behaviour support plans
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to support ongoing development
  • Promote a positive learning environment and act as a positive role model at all times

Requirements

  • Experience working with children in a primary school or similar setting (behaviour support, SEMH, SEN, pastoral support, or youth work)
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to remain positive and proactive in challenging situations
  • Knowledge of behaviour support strategies and emotional well-being approaches
  • A genuine commitment to supporting children’s personal and emotional development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
