Teaching Personnel are working with a Specialist School in Slough looking for Teaching Assistants to work full time with either Early Years, Primary, Secondary or Post 16 pupils with Autism, Moderate Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities, Specific Learning Difficulties, Hearing Impaired, Visually Impaired, ADHD and Severe Learning Disabilities.
All children will be working at one or two levels below the national curriculum. Some primary pupils are working towards the EYS curriculum and secondary pupils working towards the primary curriculum.
Class sizes are small ranging from 6- 10 pupils. Most pupils will have a key teaching assistant working 1:1 with them on a regular basis.
The ideal candidate would have previous experience working with similar needs. Candidates that are suited for this type of school tend to have experience in some of the following:
- Youth Work/Support Work
- Psychology qualification
- Care work
- Teaching Assistant in Mainstream or Special Needs
- Graduates looking to get in to teaching
- Personal experience with Special Needs
- Nursery work
- Nanny/ Au Pair
- Residential Support Work
- Outreach Work
Candidates are require to work Tuesday to Friday 8.30am-3.30pm and 8.30am-4.30pm Monday for extra training and personal development.
Candidates need to be:
- Strong with behaviour management
- Patient and Resilient
- Experienced working with children and/or adults with Special Needs
- Passionate to work with children
- Able to follow instructions
- Quick at learning and happy to attend training courses
- Adapt well to change
