This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a unique educational setting.
About the Role
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional guidance to engage with their learning and manage their emotions effectively. - Monitoring and Feedback: Observe and report on pupil progress, behaviour, and emotional well-being, contributing to individualised plans and strategies.
- Encouraging Positive Relationships: Build rapport with students, fostering trust and creating a safe, inclusive environment where they feel supported.
- Collaboration with Colleagues: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and senior staff to ensure a cohesive approach to supporting pupils.
- Contributing to Assessments: Support the school in identifying the needs of students requiring formal assessments and specialist provision, helping to tailor interventions.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an empathetic, resilient individual with a passion for supporting children with SEMH needs.
Key Attributes:
- Experience in SEN/SEMH: Previous experience working with children with trauma, PTSD, or behavioural challenges desirable.
- Excellent Interpersonal Skills: The ability to connect with pupils, colleagues, and parents, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Patience and Emotional Resilience: A calm and consistent approach to managing challenging situations and behaviours.
- Proactive and Flexible Attitude: Willingness to adapt and contribute ideas to improve pupil outcomes.
- Understanding of Trauma-Informed Practice: Awareness of how adverse experiences can impact children’s development and learning.
A background in psychology, youth work, or social care is highly advantageous but not essential if you have the right mindset and commitment to this role.
Why Join Us?
- Specialist Setting: Work in a supportive school environment committed to helping children with SEMH needs.
- Professional Development: Opportunities for training in trauma-informed practices and behaviour management strategies.
- Competitive Pay: Starting at £84+ per day, paid weekly via PAYE with no agency or umbrella fees.
- Long-Term Opportunities: Potential for career progression and future roles within the school or sector.
