Job description

The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Teaching Assistant to join a highly respected specialist provision in Yeovil.

This full-time role offers the chance to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people aged 4–18, supporting those with complex and additional needs.

This well-established and forward-thinking setting is recognised for its inclusive ethos and strong sense of community.

Pupils are supported with a range of needs including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Autism, and communication challenges.

The school is dedicated to providing personalised learning pathways, helping every pupil develop independence, confidence, and essential life skills for the future.

Pay: £14.50 per hour

 

The Role

  • Support teaching and learning across a range of subjects and key stages
  • Deliver targeted interventions and lead small group or whole class activities when required
  • Work closely with teaching staff to adapt lessons to meet individual needs
  • Support pupils with personal care, behaviour, and emotional regulation
  • Mentor and guide less experienced support staff where appropriate
  • Contribute to assessment, progress tracking, and maintaining a positive learning environment

 

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months childcare experience, ideally supporting children with SEN
  • Strong understanding of supporting complex needs and behaviour
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • A relevant qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 2/3) is desirable
  • Patient, resilient, and proactive approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
