Position: SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Liverpool & surrounding areas (with locations across Liverpool and Wirral)
Contract: Full-time

 

About the Role

We are excited to be recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants to support schools across Liverpool the Wirral. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students in alternative provisions and students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them overcome barriers and achieve their full potential in both learning and personal development.

 

Role Overview

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to students with a variety of SEND needs, including those presenting challenging behaviours. Working on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, you will play a key role in creating an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

This position is full-time and temporary until the end of the academic year, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. It’s an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and experience in supportive school settings while making a genuine impact.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 and small group support to students with SEND.
  • Adapt approaches to meet individual learning styles and needs.
  • Support students with behavioural challenges, promoting positive strategies for self-regulation.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to adapt resources and ensure full participation in lessons.
  • Monitor and record student progress, sharing feedback with teachers and the SENDCO.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages learning and personal growth.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within education, youth work, residential care, or similar settings.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when managing challenging behaviours.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach, with a genuine passion for supporting students with SEND.
  • A Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Commitment to helping students succeed in an inclusive environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
