SEND Teaching Assistant – Chorley

Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Chorley
Contract Length: Until July 2026 (end of the academic year)
Pay Rate: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour
Setting: Mainstream Primary School

Job Overview

A welcoming mainstream primary school in Chorley is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team until the end of the academic year in July 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs in a structured and inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEND

  • Work within a specialist resource provision supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and ADHD

  • Assist pupils with their academic, social and emotional development

  • Support the class teacher in implementing individual education plans (IEPs)

  • Help maintain a safe, nurturing and positive learning environment

Additional Information

  • The role is based within a SEND resource provision

  • Experience supporting pupils with ASC and ADHD is highly desirable

  • Candidates must be comfortable providing personal care where required

  • Familiarity with behaviour de-escalation strategies and positive behaviour support is essential

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant

  • Calm, patient and resilient approach

  • Strong understanding of inclusive education and safeguarding

  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
