Teaching Assistant – SEMH Support (KS2)
Location: Chorley, Lancashire
Contract Length: Until the end of the academic year
Pay Rate: £13.75 – £15.00 per hour

Role Summary
We are seeking a committed, resilient, and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Chorley, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across Key Stage 2.
This long-term role runs until the end of the academic year and is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children’s emotional wellbeing, engagement, and progress within a primary school setting. You will work closely with class teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams to help pupils access learning and develop positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities

Supporting pupils with SEMH needs across KS2, both in and out of the classroom

Providing one-to-one and small-group support tailored to individual needs

Supporting emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and engagement in learning

Assisting class teachers with lesson delivery and classroom routines

Promoting inclusion, consistency, and positive learning experiences

Building trusting, supportive relationships with pupils
Essential Criteria

Experience working with children, ideally within a school or SEMH-focused setting

Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs, or a strong interest in this area
-
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach

Ability to uphold clear boundaries and positive behaviour expectations

Strong communication and teamwork skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
