Job description

SEND & SEMH Education Opportunities Across East Sussex

I'm a Recruitment Consultant with a background in SEND education, working closely with SEND and SEMH schools across East Sussex, and I'm currently looking to connect with quality educators who are open to new opportunities.

Having spent several years working directly within specialist education myself, I understand that finding the right setting is just as important as finding the right role.

Rather than advertising one specific vacancy, I work with a range of specialist schools offering different environments, age groups and working patterns. My aim is to help good educators find settings where they can feel supported, valued and able to do their best work.

Whether you're actively looking for a new role, considering a move into SEND, or simply want to understand what opportunities are available, I'd be happy to have a conversation.

What Could This Look Like For You?

Depending on your experience, interests and availability, opportunities may include:

  • SEND and SEMH teaching roles
  • Teaching Assistant and Learning Support Assistant positions
  • 1:1 support opportunities
  • Behaviour and engagement-focused roles
  • Classroom and intervention support
  • Day-to-day, long-term and ongoing placements
  • Primary and secondary specialist settings

Some educators are looking for stability and a long-term position.

Others prefer flexibility and the opportunity to experience different schools and settings.

Both approaches are welcome.

Who Tends To Do Well In These Roles?

The schools I work with consistently tell me they're looking for people who:

  • Build positive relationships with young people
  • Remain calm and professional under pressure
  • Bring consistency and reliability into the classroom
  • Work well as part of a team
  • Understand that progress often starts with trust

Experience within SEND or SEMH is beneficial, but it isn't everything.

Many successful educators come from backgrounds such as education, care, youth work, coaching, mentoring or support work. The right attitude and willingness to learn are often just as important as previous experience.

Why Register Rather Than Apply For One Vacancy?

Registering gives you access to a wider range of opportunities than a single advert can offer.

Benefits include:

  • Access to multiple SEND and SEMH opportunities across East Sussex
  • Honest insight into different schools and settings
  • Ongoing support throughout your placement
  • Access to CPD and training opportunities
  • Flexibility and choice over the type of work you undertake
  • A consultant who understands specialist education and classroom realities

Practical Information

  • Opportunities available across East Sussex
  • Immediate and September opportunities available
  • Teaching roles paid to scale
  • Teaching Assistant and LSA roles paid at £92.60 per day
  • A child-only enhanced DBS on the Update Service is required

If you do not currently hold one, you will need to apply for one through us. We will support you throughout the process, although the cost is covered by the applicant.

As part of our safeguarding process, we will also require references covering a total of 24 months of employment history where possible, alongside a full employment and education history.

Interested?

If you're an educator looking for meaningful work, supportive schools and opportunities within SEND and SEMH education, I'd love to hear from you.

Apply today and let's have a conversation about what could be the right fit for you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
