Job description

Teaching Personnel are recruiting on behalf of multiple SEN schools in Yeovil who are looking for Teaching Assistants to join their team.

All schools aim to provide a friendly, caring environment for all children to reach their potential through high quality teaching and learning that supports the development of life-long learning skills, self-esteem and celebrates individual success.

Your duties may include:

  • Attend to the pupils’ needs, and implement related personal programs, including social, health, physical, hygiene, and first aid and welfare matters.
  • Supervise and support pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning.
  • Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model, being aware of, and responding appropriately to individual needs.
  • Prepare classroom as directed for lessons, clear afterwards, and assist with the display of pupils work.
  • Support the teacher in managing pupil behavior, reporting difficulties as appropriate

Vacancies available:

  • Teaching Assistant in a PMLD School – students between the ages of 4-19 - personal care is involved with this role
  • Teaching Assistant in a College for SLD/ASC – students between the ages of 16-25 - personal care is involved with this role

To be considered for these roles, it is essential you have experience supporting children or adults with special needs. We will also consider applicants with voluntary experience or experience supporting friends and family members with additional needs for the first 3 positions.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
