Mental Health School Assistant
Job description
A unique provision in the Nailsea area is looking for a deeply understanding and patient Teaching Assistant who understands young people who have faced immense trauma and struggle in their life and aim to build trusting relationships with the students.
This school understands the importance of education but values the personal development of the individual pupil more and focuses their attention on being a supportive, resilient role model and confidante for their students.
- The role is for immediate start till the end of the academic year and is to be rolled on to the next year with a contract.
- Hours are 8:30am – 4:30pm Monday to Thursday with a 12:30pm finish on Fridays – term time only.
- You have 2hr of planning a day, no lunch or playground duties and has no marking
- Has an enhanced TA rate of £100/ day paid weekly
There are 12 girls aged 11 – 18 who all work to their level of learning who each have their individual education and care plan. The school’s ethos is to repair and connect, they’re not focused on sanctions and the ‘behaviourist approach’, but rather the holistic approach.
The successful Teaching Assistant will:
- Be able to drive as the school is in the BS21 (Clevedon) area (unless you live in Clevedon)
- Be confident working with children with challenging behvaiour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
