SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School – Stoke-on-Trent (ST11)

Location: Stoke-on-Trent (ST11)
Position: Full-Time
Salary: £92.63 - £110.00 per day (depending on experience)

Teaching Personnel are currently working with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent (ST11) who are looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their support team on a full-time basis.

This rewarding role will involve working predominantly with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), providing tailored support to help them achieve both academically and personally. If you're passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of young people, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with a range of Special Educational Needs.
  • Work closely with teachers to adapt learning activities to meet individual student needs.
  • Support students with their academic progress, social development, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Encourage engagement, independence, and confidence within the classroom.
  • Help manage behaviour positively and create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist with preparing classroom resources and supporting lesson delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff to promote positive outcomes.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable but not essential.
  • A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Relevant qualifications or experience in education, care, youth work, or support work are beneficial.
