Job description
Teaching Assistant – Full Time – SEN School, PR3
Teaching Personnel are working closely with a specialist residential school located in Preston, supporting young people aged 8–18 with autism, learning disabilities, and associated complex needs. We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated education team on a full-time basis.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people, working closely with teachers, therapists, and care staff to support pupils in both their academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:

Support teaching and learning in the classroom under the guidance of the class teacher

Help implement educational health care plans and behaviour support strategies

Work one-to-one or in small groups with pupils to promote engagement and progress
-
Assist with classroom management, resource preparation, and behaviour regulation
-
Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment for all pupils
Requirements:
-
Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning)

Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally in a SEN or complex needs setting

Good understanding of autism and associated learning and behavioural needs
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills
-
Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
