SEN Teaching Assistant

Join a large secondary academy in Manchester seeking to appoint an SEN Teaching Assistant on a full-time temporary basis from Easter until the end of the academic year.

The successful Teaching Assistant will provide general and specific assistance to pupils with Special Educational Needs and staff under the direction, guidance and direct supervision of the school Special Educational Needs Coordinator.

Responsibilities of the role will involve:

• Working with individuals or small groups of students under the direction of the SENCO.
• Supervise and provide particular support for pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
• Assist with the implementation of individual Education/Behaviour plans and Personal Care programs under the supervision and guidance of teaching staff.
• Establish positive professional relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs.
• Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
• Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher.

This secondary academy is located in Manchester just a short drive from the city centre. For those on public transport, the school is accessible via trains from the city centre and bus routes from the surrounding areas of Manchester, Stockport and Tameside. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
