SEN Teaching Assistant

We are in need of Teaching Assistants for an Outstanding School in the Stockport Area. The school caters for children with PMLD and SLD needs so the ideal candidate will need experience in an SEN setting. We will also consider applicants from backgrounds such as nursing or care, with experience of administering medication and feeding.

The School

The school is set in the heart of Heaton Moor and caters for young people with severe, profound, and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), Autism (ASC) and Complex Medical Needs (SLD). The school is well established within the community. The school boasts an outdoor area which includes playground equipment, a trampoline, a swing and a multi use games area, a memorial garden, and an orchard and allotment area at the back of the school, to enhance students’ outdoor education. In addition, the school also includes a sensory room, a small pool used for hydrotherapy and warm water activities, and a performing arts studio, something that the school specialises in. The school has four main aims that it strives towards for its students. They are; Enjoy and achieve through learning, Be healthy, Stay safe and Make a positive contribution to society.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will need to be flexible and resilient, as you will be expected to work with varying needs from PMLD to SLD so having knowledge of the SEN sector and/or experience in a care assistant role, or medical background is essential to the role. Training in moving and handling is desirable, but not essential, as you can be provided with training through our CPD Academy.

Teaching Personnel are education specialists with 23 years experience in the field. You will be provided with your own specialist consultant who will take care of your needs and advise you through the clearing and work process. You will have access to free safeguarding training and an online diary so you can manage your work times more efficiently. You will also have access to our CPD Academy, in which you will be able to attend training courses in order to aid your personal development in your career.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
